Loreauville Acadian Odyssey Monument Park Foundation
"Nouvelle Acadie" translates to New Acadia. It refers to the areas in Louisiana where Acadian exiles settled after being expelled from their homeland in Atlantic Canada in the mid-18th century. Specifically, this refers to the region along Bayou Teche in south-central Louisiana, where many Acadians settled. In 1765 a group led by Joseph "Beausoleil" Broussard arrived along the Bayou Teche. Documentation and on-going research strongly show that camp locations were along the Fausse Pointe oxbow of Bayou Teche.....near Loreauville, LA.
This foundation is helping to build and maintain the Odyssey Monument that commemorates the arrival of the Acadians.
